Here’s How Often You Should Deep Clean Your Bathroom

Our bathroom is our least favorite part of the house to clean – it’s stinky, damp, and labor-intensive. Cleaning the shower, bathtub, and toilet require a deep clean that has to be done by hand; using just vacuums and mops won’t cut it. While cleaning bathrooms is a lot of work, it shouldn’t take you all day. Here are some tips to help you clean your bathroom and how often you should be doing it.

Weekly Clean

Pick a day that’s convenient for you and make cleaning the bathroom part of your weekly routine. Make sure you still keep the showers and counters clean throughout the week so all you need to do is clean the toilet, sink, and floor. Once a week remove everything from the counters and give them a quick clean. To clean the toilet, use a toilet bowl brush and cleanser.

Clean Your Counter Daily

Before you head to bed wipe down the counter to remove any toothpaste, hairs, or water. When you let toothpaste stay for a couple of days, it becomes difficult to get rid of it.

Keep Your Shower Dry

The best way to keep your shower clean is to make sure it’s dry. Soap scum and mildew can’t form in your shower if it’s dry, so take 30 seconds after you finish showering to clean the walls and floor. To make sure your bathroom stays dry, run a ventilation fan while you’re in the shower and 30 minutes after you finish.

Replace Towels Frequently

Rugs and towels can smell mildewy when they aren’t dried properly. To avoid this, make sure you hang your towels immediately after you finish with them and only use them two or three times before washing them.
