If you suffer from rosacea, the joys of the festive season may come hand in hand with irritated skin, excessive redness, and surprise pimple attacks. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to manage your skin condition. Here are some top tips.

Avoid Facials

If you are visiting a spa over the holidays, it’s probably best to switch up your facial for a body massage. Facials can cause flareups if the products have not been specifically selected for your skin.

Be Skeptical

In beauty stores, many over-the-counter products will claim to reduce redness. Unfortunately, not all of these are suitable for rosacea-prone skin and they can occasionally do more harm than good.

Give Your Skin a Break

When you are not out with your friends, give your skin a rest. Put down the face creams, keep the foundation locked away and let your skin breathe. It will thank you for it in the long run.

Learn Your Triggers

As much as it might suck to admit it, there will be some indulgences that cause your skin condition to flare up. Red wine or hot baths, for example, may cause redness. The best way to prevent a flare-up is to accept your triggers and learn to avoid them.

Ask Your GP

Yout GP can prescribe you a cream or gel that suits your skin. It may be the case that you need a different skin in the evening than during the day, so don’t be afraid to go back a couple of times to ensure you get it right.
