The past few weeks have been jampacked with red carpet events and we’ve gotten some amazing looks from the MTV VMAs, the Met Gala, and the Emmys. While typically the gowns get all of the attention, the hair and makeup looks at the past few red carpets have been showstopping and deserve to get a second look. Celebrities can’t seem to get enough of these five trends.

Face Bedazzling

It’s not just dresses that are getting the glitz and glamour, stars have been wearing face jewels for a super fashion-forward look. Machine Gun Kelly, Storm Reid, Amanda Gorman, Maisie Williams, and Julia Garner have made red carpet appearances with them.

Hair Structures

Celebrities were taller than ever with their hair structures that featured architectural designs at the Met Gala. Highlights include Naomi Osaka’s braided updo and Lupita Nyong’o afro.

Neon Eyeliner

Bright eyeliner has been super popular on the red carpet and some of the best were from Michaela Coel and Yara Shahidi at the Emmys and Emma Chamberlain at the Met Gala.

Mullet

In addition to structural hair, mullets are making a huge comeback and this couldn’t have been clearer than at the MTV VMAs. Debby Ryan, Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, and Bretman Rock were a few of the celebs who embraced the controversial hairstyle.

Extremely Long Nails

Fresh manicures are always a red carpet staple, but this year it’s all about extremely long nails with lots of drama. Cynthia Erivo, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Taraji P Henson, and Emma Corrin showed off their long nails at the Emmys.
