Most insect repellents smell harsh and give off a strong chemical smell. However, you can smell beautifully with perfumes while also repelling insects. Summer scents are sweet and warm, but you should stay away from them if you don’t want to attract them.

Opt for refreshing scents such as mint, vibrant citrus, aromatic greens as well as aqua notes. They keep the insects at bay and help you stay refreshed.

Repel wasps, bees and mosquitos

Fragrances with notes of grapefruit, lemon, lemon verbena are ideal for repelling stinging bugs such as wasps, bees and mosquitos. Some other good fragrances for this purpose include mint and eucalyptus.

These fragrances interfere with the respiratory system of the insects and make it difficult for them to breathe. They are also ideal for both summer and winter seasons.

Repel biting bugs

Peppermint fragrance is a major deterrent for biting bugs and others like ticks and fleas. The insect group also hate the smell of basil, myrtle, as well as woodsy notes such as Fir or cedar. These scents are also irritating for mosquitos.

But if you want to repel mosquitos particularly, then opt for vanilla. This fragrance interferes with mosquito’s ability to hone into human skin. However, it is perfect for humans because we love sweet smells.
