Asian Girls Are Going Crazy over Milk Tea Hair

We noticed that hair color trends are often inspired by beverages, especially coffee and wine. Mulled wine, chardonnay blonde, cold brew, and iced mocha are the words used to describe particular hair colors, and now there’s a new emerging trend.

It’s spreading in Asia, specifically Singapore and Japan, but we expect it to become popular in the rest of the world as well.

More and more Instagram posts use hashtag #milkteahair to describe the new hair color.

The milk tea hair color falls between dark blonde and light brown and is neither too cool nor too warm. It looks like a color that may look great on many different skin tones, and it’s especially great for girls who just want a slight change.

“When asking your colorist for something similar, you want to stress that you’re looking for a color melt look that starts more warm-toned at the root but transitions to ash on the ends,” explains colorist Olivia Smalley.

“The key here is making sure there is a complete elimination of gold on those lighter ends while maintaining gold on the roots.”
