How To Store Perfumes and Make Them Last Longer

Perfumes lose scent when they are not properly stored. This is because the alcohol and oils in perfume break down when they are exposed to heat, humidity, and light. Here are some tips to help preserve your favorite fragrance:

No sunlight

Direct sunlight causes perfumes to degrade faster, and the smell may change over time. Choose a dark spot for your perfume such as a closet. They can be stored behind your clothes. This tip is the most important on the list.

No heat

Your perfumes thrive in the absence of heat. The perfect spot for this is your closet as well. In the same vein, extremely cold weather doesn’t help either because it also degrades the perfume. Don’t store your perfume in your refrigerator. If you chose to do so, keep it away from foods that absorb fragrance.

Use darker bottles

Sunlight degrades perfumes, so a darker bottle could help come in handy. Use a frosted bottle or one that is completely opaque. Then store in your closet.

Store in a dry place

It may be easy to store perfumes in the bathroom, but humidity breaks down your fragrance. If you have a cupboard that doesn’t come in contact with steam, then you can store it there.

Transfer carefully

Make sure your perfume bottles are airtight. If they are not, transfer them. Do this carefully and use an opaque glass.
