Cat-eye makeup is one of those looks we’ve been trying to master for a long time, but we just can’t seem to nail it. Before applying your makeup, there are a couple of steps you must first do which include prepping your eye and picking an eyeliner.
It’s important to prep your eye to create a good base to work with. To make sure the makeup lasts, apply a primer. The next step before actually applying the eyeliner is to choose one that works for you. There are liquid liners or gel liners. If you’re a beginner, felt tip eyeliners are the easiest to use.
Step 1: Line the Upper Lashline
Start with small, slow strokes to line the upper lashline. That way, you won’t mess up by rushing and you have the option to increase the thickness to suit your taste.
Step 2: Find the Right Angle
Follow the natural shape of your eyes to see where the flick should go. Imagine that your lower lashline is extended and that’s where the flick should be. You can always use eyeshadow and angled brush to map out the shape.
Step 3: Make the Flick
When you have the angle, use dotted motions with your eyeliner to create a flick to help you figure out where the flick’s final shape is. Then, join the spots and connect the line you’ve done above your lashline.
Step 4: Clean Up
If it’s not as neat as you were hoping for (it can take a few times to perfect it), use a cotton swab or concealer to fix it.
